Send light Blinking on Motorola Surfboard SB5180

Once a day or 2 days, The Send Light starts blinking and the connection is lost, I need to power off and back on to fix it.

If this normal?

The Modem is connected to a Belkin Wireless G Router

What can I do to make it more stable?

Thanks

Natalio

That's not normal. What do your modem signal levels look like?

These look fine. Did you see an upstream or Tx level?

That's a little on the high end, but I don't think itwould cause the problem you're having. Check that everything is plugged all the way in. Youre modem may be dying on you. Is it a leased modem? If so, I'd call Comcast and ask them to replace it.

Re: Send light Blinking on Motorola Surfboard SB5180

Hmm, I'm not sure why it's losing sync. Maybe your signal on the return path is fluctuating. Your upstream power level at that *particular* time might be okay, but start worrying when it reaches 55dB.

I was happy with a 39dB for my upstream and all of the sudden it jumps to 55db and I lose sync. It came back down the next day. Comcast's response... we don't know anything about it... heh.

I watch over the upstream values, Apparently that is the only weir value

Re: Send light Blinking on Motorola Surfboard SB5180

Having the SAME exact problelm with the same equipment. Not sure how to get all that upstream stuff though to compare. Been happening for about a week, got really bad (7hours outage) on Sat. Tech came Sun, of course it was working, all he could tell was that my modem was "ranging" . Had no fix or advice, just replaced splitter and coax. Worked rest of the day and then today out in morning, up by two pm. don't know.....

Re: Send light Blinking on Motorola Surfboard SB5180

Once the modem connects it should be stable. It should not be "ranging". Go to the Read This Thread First at the top of this for info on getting signal data.
