My speed has dropped from my usual speed of 25 Mbps down to 0.5 Mbps down. My speed going up is OK at 5.0 Mbps. This test is using the servers in Detroit or Twin Cities. I cannot use Chicago servers (recommended) at all.
Ours has been slow too since this morning. We've also reset the modem and router. Currently are paying for the "Performance" package and have been getting 0.90Mbps download average all day. Upload is running about 5Mbps average. The download speed should be up tp 25Mbps (about 25 times what we're getting). (And no, nothing else is running on the connection... just the speed test.
Not solution but same is happening to me. I have notice one thing in particular my wan Ip address for modem changed to a weird one. Not the usual 98.x.x.x but a 24.x.x.x one. Seems to be the problem for me. Support can't undestand why or what is wrong and is sending a tech to my house. No outage reported in my area they say. LOL
Dont waste your time sitting on the phone waiting to talk to someone theyre just going to feed you the regular B.S about turning your modem on and off and making sure all your cables are connected properly.
I noticed the same dhcp address change from 98.x.x.x to 24.x.x.x. I'm in Monee, IL and it seems there are a few people in IL having the same problem. I've been on hold for 95 minutes. I tried to use the chat feature but that also has a queue of 750 people or estimated 85 minutes. I'm thinking they have some down equipment, or someone screwed up routing, and that on site tech visit is going to be a waste of time.
Mine has been down as well, usually 55MB down between .5-1 MB DL 11MB UL. Called CR because I did a reset on my "bought" modem Motorola SB6141 and it wouldn't reconnect. Since i still hadn't return the rented modem, I switch to that. Finally got it to connect to the internet but my DL speed was still the same. They said they were going to send out a tech. But i believe it's a problem with Comcast and not the subscribers. Hopefully they get it fixed soon. Logansport, IN.
Same problem in Northwest Indiana, contacted a tech online but as usual they don't have a clue. Did their runaround about resetting router and sending a signal refresh. Stuck at .67 download, such a joke, why would I even pay for this?
Been having issues all day, just got booted offline for about 3 hours, and now that I'm back on, speeds of roughly 0.5MB. Not to mention when I called in during the outage the auto-promts hung up on me 4 times in a row before I gave up on it.

And after a pathping stopped after hop 7, I pinged hop 7 100 times and hop 10 100 times. Seems whatever is the problem is in Illinois, between their Chicago and Ecermak routers:

Same .5 here in kokomo indiana, everyone would be far better off if comcast would just post a "we are aware of blah blah" . Everyone's service will have issues, its how they deal with them that shows who is the best. And pretending they dont exist to your customers isnt the way.
This just started for me about an hour ago in Valparaiso, upload is fine, but download craps out at .9 - 1.1 mb, I am also on the Perfomance package. Looking in here, it seems everyone is having this issue all over IN/IL . I've also tried the reset IP, reset modem, cleared caches, dumped cookies, turned my modem off for 10 minutes and let it reboot again, all for nothing. This is the first time I have had any issues with speed this drastic, and I have been a customer for over a year.
Confirmed,I am a Comcast Field Tech who lives in the Indianapolis area....ive spent the last hour and a half rewiring my home from the inside out trying to resolve the issue , as well as swapping my Modem, from the trace routes that I have run on my hard wired PC, there is definitely issues with the servers in the Chicago area.
Confirmed, Ive gotten the same trace routes on my PC as well....Im a field Tech for Comcast. Its definitely a server issue in Chicago.

Merrillville IN...Chicago Server... same thing with slow speeds.This is not a problem that needs a tech sent to our home-it's obvious that we are being ignored and not given consideration to advise or just informing us of where the problem is...and when it will be fixed...another big corporate giant that just don't care..
I am in the Fort Wayne, IN area experiencing the same issue. I am on the phone with an AWESOME customer service rep running through test after test with me. He has confirmed that a major fiber line has been cut in the Chicago area (a huge hub) and is affecting IL, MI, and IN areas, as well as others.
Sorry for the bad news! No news on when it's going to be restored.
Here's what I was told through chat. Looks like everyone else should just wait for the issue to be fixed and not waste their time trying to get to support.
Tech: I sincerely want to assist you with your issue, unfortunately there is outage at your area that is the reason you are unable to browse internet ant getting slow speed . I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Have to say worse customer service I have ever exeperienced. Waited about an hour for online chat. Finally got someone she got a bunch of info then said she was going to reset modem but do not go anywhere or close the chat box. I waited she rebooted and chat was reconnected and without a word she closed the session. Then I called the 800 number and found out there is an area wide issue which the person in chat must not of known about but should of. I then selected to be transferred to a representitive and instead they hung up. Starting to remember why I left the first time and switched to DSL at a higher price and slower speeds. Time for these big monopolies of the internet to be broken up and made into smaller entities where they have to provide not only a product but also customer service!
I been having slow connection issues for a couple of hours. Did the regular power cycling or my modem > router > PC. Bypassed the Router and did another power cycle. No improvement. Change DNS to google public (just for the lols), no improvement.
I noticed something strange when I called in to send a refresh signal to my modem and my modem did not power cycle. I also noticed very strange speed test results. Some showing 25Mbps/11Mbps (I pay for Blast50) with the Chicago Comcast server and very low with any other server.
I called in and the csr said there were no outages in my area. He asked me if i cleared my c&c and I said yes on both browsers. Then he tried to refresh my modem... twice... and my modem did not respond, it did not power cycle. This puzzled the csr as much as it puzzled me. He said he was going to send a tech to check my area and to escalate to the 'Back Office' and that I will recive a call. HE also mentioned that the 1st of every month there is a bandwitch refresh operation done on the subs and that he thinks that might be it.
I decided to check on the forum just for the lolz and I see a bunch of ppl from IL and IN reporting internet connection issued all day today 12/01.

Fun how when I called there was no outage or issue in my area. The csr told me that. Now I called again just for the lolz. Automated woman tells me 'There is a problem on your area and our tech are aware and trying to fix it asap'
Good job Comcast. Took you long enough. At least now I know is my area and I can go to my DVD library and find something to watch.
In Valparaiso, Indiana, and noticed speed issues around 6:30pm CST. After a reset, my modem would not connect at all. The modem, a Cisco dpc2100r2, would not retrieve an IP address from Comcast. So, I went out and purchased the Motorola SB6121 modem. Came home, connected it, and I was able to succesfully acitivate the modem, but still had slow speeds of anywhere between 1-3mbps. I normally get 25-28mbps.

Good to know it's not just me, got home from spending the holiday with family and my net speed was in the crapper, 2 hours away in central IL and the speed at Mom's house was fine, with 3 laptops and a Wii sharing the wireless signal. Any word, official or other wise on what the problem is or when it's expected to be fixed?
My internet slowness has resolved itself for what I can tell. Still have that funky ip address scheme 25.x.x.x instead of the norm 98.x.x.x. I hope that don't spell something of doom for me later on and it is just a normal ip address change. That 25.x series usually means parked and no interenet when you don't pay your bills lol. 57Mbps down is what I am getting this morning.
