Basically what i said in the topic, how is it possible that i click on streaming music previews on Amazon.com and it lags like crazy and yet i can go to youtube and play a 1080P HD video just fine? Same thing on TMZ.com i go to play a NON-HD video and it skips and lags. This can't be my router, so what is going on with comcast connection?
DId you not seriously read the topic title, this is happening on most websites including steam!!! This has to be on Comcast's end because comcast customers are reporting this same problem with steam and their store front either not loading at all or super slow, all comcast people in the midwest.
Nah, I seriously didn't read the topic! My bad. Sorry, start here:
We need more information please:
- Post your upstream and downstream signal levels. Click the link or type: http://192.168.100.1 into your browser. We are interested in your power levels (dBmV) and your Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). You may also want to contact Comcast and ask for your upstream SNR (uSNR) and receive level. - Post your modem’s error logs. - Post the make and model of your modem. - Post the make and model of your router if you have one. - Let us know if you contacted Comcast or had a tech visit. - Let us know what the lights on your modem are doing when you are having problems.
- Plug directly into the modem (no router) via ethernet and run ShaperProbe.
I know i already posted something else a few days ago but this needs attention from comcast NOW!!! Most sites are not loading up video and music streaming or it takes as long as being on a 56k dialup!! I have tried switching dns hosts thinking it was comcast dns and so i have tried openDNS, google and Verizon and nothing has fixed this issue!!! This is getting pathetic that i can't stream most things outside of JTV and YOUTUBE. I cannot even load sample music on amazon!!!!! COMCAST PLEASE LOOK INTO YOUR NETWORK, this is on you. WHen i go to speedtest.net i always get 24Mbps down and 4Mbps up, so i shouldn't be seeing this streaming issue but i am.
AND YES, i have plugged in my modem directly into my pc instead of running through the router and i have the same problems!!
Here is a link to a post on the steampowered forums and everyone who is having the same issue on the STEAM client are all comcast customers in the midwest, FIX THIS COMCAST!!!
Yes, indeed. I have been noticing the same problems for the past week or so, and I thought it was a fault of my wiring, perhaps a failing router or cable modem, but now I discover this is Comcast-wide, and pinging my equipment shows 0.4% or less packet loss over WiFi and none over Ethernet cable.
However, I just now registered over 16% packet loss pinging repetitively google.com.
This is clearly dropping packets in the Comcast network or beyond, and when it drops them, it is 2-4 at a time. Please acknowledge that there is a problem, and please fix it.
Ok, I'll bite. To prove my assertion that there is a high packet loss out there, here is a sequence of ShaperProbe runs from tonight. Note that Comcast does shape down the throughput considerably from what is made available at my subscription price point according to speed tests and estimated capacity found by this tool. The output is unadulturated by me:

And for the sake of reference/comparison, here is an equal number of runs made in a different city on a different ISP (RoadRunner, from Time Warner Cable). Again, these are unretouched copy-and-pastes:

Thanks for posting some logs marekl, this is getting out of hand comcast. Right now at this very moment i cannot even load videos or if they do it takes upwards of 3 to 5 minutes. On my speed, it should load more or less instantly and it feels like im back on 56k, ridiculous..please fix whatever is wrong comcast!!!
