Re: How to increase the internet upload speed

Comcast has several different speed tiers, each with a particular combination of download and upload speeds. You can't increase your upload speed unless you upgrade to a faster tier.

Re: How to increase the internet upload speed

Actually, I'm not sure how accurate that is. I just checked, and it offered the choices of 6Meg/384K and 8Meg/768K for $10 more. But I'm pretty sure I remember the upload speed of the 6Meg service being increased to 768K last winter.

Re: How to increase the internet upload speed

Then you need the 8mbps service
they double upload so comcast.com has it wrong.

Re: How to increase the internet upload speed

It is my undersranding that some tiers are being changed from 6/384 to 6/1, and from 8/768 to 8/2.

Also, many areas have now been upgraded from the 8/2 tier to the Blast 16/2 tier at no additional charge if one was originally paying for the 8/768 tier.

it may depend on the site
a premium user may get the better transfer rate or they just reduce the rate to save a little bandwidth.
ask the site you go to if they have such a policy
how far away are they too.

i wish i knew of a better upload tester.

No comcast did not make it wrong, They just like to mislead customers so they can sign up for whatever it is.

ok to clarify your a premium member of the uploading site.?
you should get as fast as that site can handle.

on ipv6 connectivity  i do not know
does that site even uses ipv6 .
what else do you got in your network, any router some have down and up limit setup
anything like torrent running on any computer.

Re: How to increase the internet upload speed

Doesn't matter if the site uses IPv6, the internet doesn't route it.

Vista by default enables IPv6, unless you disable it, it will give you that message, but it is cosmetic only, has no impact.  Theoretically something could go wrong and it would try to do DNS lookups and the like via IPv6, timeout, then do IPv4, so to not have to worry about it, I always disable it.

Most likely the site your uploading to caps each session to conserve bandwidth.  Try some other places.  If the speedtest shows you hitting 2 megs then you're likely fine.  I'm assuming you're uploading at 75kB/sec (bytes) which is just over 1/2 meg.
