Detecting proxy settings? What does it mean and why is it happening?

I can search for a few pages then my internet says detecting proxy settings at the left of the screen, and it never loads, I also lose my connection to my messengers, what is the problem here.  I assumed it was something to do with my computer but I reloaded everything back onto the other night and it still does the same thing.  Please help me I am going crazy!!!

Try this. On your Browser, go to "Tools" >> "Internet Options" >> the "Connections" tab.

Click on the "Lan Settings" button. If there is a checkmark in the box for "Use A Proxy Server For Your LAN", uncheck it, then o/k out.

Let us know if this works for you.

Oh, and while you are at it, just uncheck everything there.

It is highly likely that your proxy is NOT checked.  If you are still seeing a webpage after you get that message at the bottom left....

I asked the O.P. to try something....... no guarantees.....

Guess that we shall see, provided that the O.P. ever returns.....

Please explain how your post helps in any way ??

Re: Detecting proxy settings? What does it mean and why is it happening?

It helped for a little while now it says at the bottom of the screen finding site all of the time and it never finds the site.  My friend suggested that this might have something to do with the ram on my computer, but maybe you guys know if it is something else?
