Configure Windows XP for Comcast HSI

I recently purchased a new PC with Windows XP. I did not do anything special to configure Windows XP networking to connect to Comcast HSI, but was wondering if there are instructions anywhere on how to configure Windows XP Networking properly for Comcast HSI? Im connected to the net, but download speeds are spiking.

Re: Configure Windows XP for Comcast HSI

There is nothing special to do. Simply make sure you have TCP/IP set to Obtain an IP address automatically, and you should be good, assuming your equipment is correctly installed and functioning. But that is not specific to Comcast.

There are many, many different ways to setup XP to talk to Comcast, depending on equipment and your personal needs. The simplest setup is one cable modem (provided by Comcast or your own) connected to your PC's ethernet port. Your XP setup has the drivers installed for the ethernet port and you have TCP/IP installed and configure to get a dynamic IP. That's all there is to it.

Re: Configure Windows XP for Comcast HSI

I have the same problem, but mine comes up with:
Opening port....
Error 769: The specified destination is not reachable.

Don't know what to do.

This may be relevant.........

Error 769: Either you specified a destination address that is not valid, or your remote server is down.

If your network card, NIC, is Disabled, you will experience this problem.

To resolve this issue:

1. Control Panel / / System.

2. Select the Hardware tab.

3. Press the Device Manager button.

4. Expand Network adapters.

5. Select (highlight) your NIC and press Enable on the Action menu.

6. Exit Device Manager.

7. Control Panel / / double-click Network Connections.

8. In Network Tasks, press the Network Setup Wizard and follow the instructions.

9. When complete, restart your computer.
