Re: My recipe for a good, clean computer.

I had no idea, this post would have opened up this discourse as it has, BUT, I am very glad that it did. Gives folks a chance to speak of what they like or do not and why.
One of the very nice things about this forum is that we all have what works for us, and if we can share that info here.
I am however sorry that some felt that they had to get personal about it. My post was nothing more than a work through of what I did and how well it worked.
Six months ago, I had a totally different set up and thought that I had a good one. Then NIS went goofy on me, and I started to have problems and I do not like problems, so I did my home work, asked questions of those that are in the know. Read posts of those that I know and respect and finally went the route that I did.
Is it my way or the highway? GOOD GRIEF NO!!!
It is just what I found that works well.
For those that took my recipe for safety as I am telling them what to do and what they are doing is all wrong. How on earth did you come up with that one. I called it a good recipe for a clean computer. NOT THE ONLY ONE.

Re: My recipe for a good, clean computer.

Boy that UUUUGGHH looks really familar, are you and Fredtam related? lol. If you type Free Firewalls into your google search, you should find many companies that have free trials of there software. Ranging any where to 5days to 90 days. I would personnally go for the ones that are at least a month or more, because it is kinda hard to see how well a program will work in just a few days Smiley Happy

I think that should be adopted universally. Have you ever read some of these so-called "privacy statements?" No wonder the average user doesn't, or tries to and then gives up...

One of the reasons that I went with the router is because they do have an excellent firewall and once it is bought and paid for, that is the end. You never have to re-up the license. That is my opinion.

And I thought I had problems! Paige and little Freddie are the ones with problems, not computer but otherwise. Gaucho!

It moves a thread "up" to the top of the forum since they are listed by latest post first.
